“My agents and I have navigated the industry well over the last 10 years,” Holland continues. However, he admits that if he were to play Spider-Man for the rest of his life, he would still consider himself incredibly fortunate. The enthusiasm he holds for the character remains undeniable.
What Lies Ahead
While no official announcement has been made, there is a strong likelihood that Holland will continue his role as Spider-Man for a few more years. Amy Pascal, the former Sony Pictures Chairman and producer behind the Spider-Verse, confirmed that a fourth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man series is in the works. Holland’s participation, however, has been slowed down by the recent Writers Guild of America strike. Despite this, Holland remains tight-lipped about Spider-Man 4.
When asked about the future of his character, Holland playfully responds, “I’m going to have to plead the fifth there because I’m not prepared to start talking about the future of Spider-Man.” He expresses his love for the character and the profound impact it has had on his life. As long as they can find a way to do justice to the character’s story, Holland is committed to continuing his portrayal. However, he acknowledges that if they cannot compete with the success of the third installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, it may be time for the character to gracefully swing off into the sunset.
