Why Working with Children is an Incredible Opportunity

By Noah Segal, SED 2017

Working with children can be a truly rewarding and fulfilling career choice. While the field of education may be dominated by women, being a man who is willing to work with children can give you a significant advantage in the job market. But beyond the potential job prospects, there are several other compelling reasons why working with children is an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Never a Dull Moment

In today’s fast-paced world, we often crave excitement and variety. Working with kids provides exactly that. No two days are the same when you work with children. In fact, no two hours are the same! Engaging in a wide range of activities throughout the day keeps you on your toes and ensures that there is never a dull moment. It might be challenging at first, but that’s what makes it so much fun. Each second brings a new opportunity for both personal and professional growth.

It’s Hard but Rewarding

Above all else, we all strive to find our purpose in life. Working with children gives you the chance to discover a new purpose every day. It’s not always easy, but the rewards are immeasurable. There is nothing more satisfying than witnessing a child experiencing that “ah ha” moment, knowing that you played a part in their growth and development. It’s a constant reminder of the impact you have on their lives.

An Incredibly Challenging Field

Let’s be honest, working with children is not for the faint-hearted. It’s a demanding profession that requires dedication, patience, and resilience. You may face criticism from others who don’t understand your career choice, and financial rewards may not match those of your peers on Wall Street. There will always be assessments to grade, lessons to plan, and strategies to adjust. But despite the challenges, working with children is one of the most stimulating and fulfilling fields you can choose. Don’t let others discourage you from exploring this incredible opportunity.

So give it a try, and who knows what amazing things may await you in this remarkable field!
