Tupac Shakur’s Final Love Story: Kidada Jones and Their Relationship

Tupac Shakur, the legendary rapper, had a captivating love life throughout his short 25 years. He was briefly married and dated some of Hollywood’s prominent women. However, his last and most significant love story was with Kidada Jones. At the time of his untimely demise, they were engaged and sharing a life together. Understandably, Shakur’s death left Kidada Jones devastated. She also reportedly harbored resentful feelings towards her father, Quincy Jones.

The Journey of Kidada Jones and Tupac’s Relationship

The relationship between Kidada Jones and Shakur had a rocky start. In an interview with The Source Magazine, the rapper criticized Quincy Jones, focusing on his interracial relationships and mixed-race children. Shakur was quoted saying, “All he [Quincy] does is stick his dk in white b*hes and make fked up kids.”

Rashida Jones, Kidada Jones’ sister, reacted strongly to Shakur’s comments. In an article, she questioned his moral compass and shamed the rapper for disrespecting someone as legendary as Quincy Jones.

Months later, Kidada Jones and Shakur crossed paths at a nightclub. Mistaking her for Rashida Jones, Shakur approached Kidada to apologize for his previous remarks about their father. During their conversation, Kidada Jones found herself captivated by Shakur’s charm.

“He [Shakur] was apologizing about the article he wrote about my parents, and inside I’m just like, ‘Oh my God, he is so cute,'” she exclaimed in an interview with VH1. Their friendship blossomed, despite Quincy Jones initially being unreceptive. Eventually, Kidada Jones and Shakur started dating.

Quincy Jones, initially resistant, warned Kidada Jones, “You know you can date whoever you want, but you will not bring Tupac to my house, that’s one rapper you will not be dating.” However, Kidada Jones’ heart was already invested, and over time, Quincy Jones grew to love Shakur as well. Kidada Jones and Shakur not only lived together but also discussed marriage and having children. Tragically, Kidada Jones was with him in Las Vegas when he fell victim to a fatal drive-by shooting.

Kidada Jones’ Anguish and Quincy Jones’ Role After Tupac’s Death

Kidada Jones was one of the last people to see Shakur before his passing. Upon hearing about the shooting, she rushed to the hospital where he was receiving treatment. Amid doctors and Shakur’s mother, Kidada Jones was allowed in the room to be by Shakur’s side.

According to her 1997 interview with Vanity Fair, Kidada Jones asked Shakur, “Do you know I love you? Do you know we all love you?” Shakur nodded, and as Kidada Jones walked away, he started convulsing. He eventually slipped into a coma and was taken off life support.

Kidada Jones was devastated by Shakur’s death. She revealed to VH1 that for nearly 9 months, she was unable to speak or leave her home due to depression. Additionally, she carried immense guilt over his passing, as she had an eerie feeling that something terrible would happen before Shakur left their hotel. She even pleaded with him not to go out on the night of the shooting, but he insisted.

Moreover, Kidada Jones was furious with Quincy Jones. She expressed her feelings of abandonment during Shakur’s hospital stay after the shooting, stating, “When I heard that he got shot and I called my mom to tell her, she got on a plane from New York immediately. I called my dad, I told him what was going on, he didn’t think he [Shakur] was gonna die. He was just like, ‘Can’t come, my love is with you, can’t come…I harbored a lot of anger toward my dad because he wasn’t there.”

Eventually, Kidada Jones learned that Quincy Jones was deeply affected by Shakur’s death. The father and daughter duo reconnected and had a long, emotional conversation about Shakur and his untimely demise. This heart-to-heart led to their reconciliation.
