Play a Few Beach Games
Playing games is a great way to spend time with family or friends, even in the rain. Bring along a Frisbee or football and play in the rain! Just be cautious of slippery conditions, but don’t let that stop you from having fun.
Read a Book and Wait for the Rain to Pass By
A rainy day at the beach is the perfect opportunity to catch up on that book you’ve been meaning to read. Take shelter under a canopy or in your car and let the sound of rain create a soothing ambiance as you lose yourself in a good book. All you need is a laptop, speakers, and an umbrella, and you’re all set for a cozy movie experience. Trust me, it’s a lot of fun, and you’ll create great memories.
Go for a Swim
If the conditions allow, why not go for a swim on the beach? Of course, you wouldn’t enter the water during a storm, but swimming on the beach during the rain can be a lot of fun, especially in warm climates like Bali, Thailand, or Malaysia. Embrace the raindrops and enjoy a refreshing swim.
Take Some Photos of the Gorgeous Coastline
Don’t let the rain dim your view of the beautiful beach. Get creative and take some stunning photos, even if it means getting a little moisture involved. Bring an umbrella or a waterproof camera case for protection, and capture those memories on film. They’ll live forever in high-definition video form.

A List of Reasons We May Have a Beach Excursion When It’s Raining
Let’s finish off by considering the reasons why we might find ourselves at the beach during the rain, despite other activities being possible:
- We may be on vacation and the beach is part of the plan, so we don’t want to miss out or change our plans.
- Even though the rain was forecasted, we still wanted to go to the beach because we love the sound of the waves.
- We might live near the beach and want to walk or swim, even though it’s raining.
- The rain could have started unexpectedly, but since we’re already at the beach, we decide to make the most of it.
- We could have a prior engagement at the beach and can’t change our plans, so we roll with it.
- We may have unexpectedly gotten a day off work or school, and since it’s raining, we decide to spend the day at the beach because that’s what we do, right?
No matter the reason, if you find yourself at the beach during a rainstorm, don’t despair! There’s still plenty to do to have fun. Just bring a raincoat, umbrella, and maybe even some games to keep you entertained. And if all else fails, you can always curl up with a good book or movie and relax!
