Have you ever felt like important moments in your life went unnoticed by those closest to you? I find myself in this amusing predicament, where half of my confidants seemed to have missed out on significant milestones in my emotional, social, and physical growth.

The Unseen Adventures
Picture this: my high school buddies and some family members, who I don’t interact with every day, completely missed out on some adventures that shaped me. For instance, they never witnessed the hiking expeditions that led to two pairs of ripped yoga pants. Yes, yoga pants! Those things are unbelievably stretchy! They also missed out on my newfound addiction to the delectable Thai Peanut Dressing at work, as well as my love for quesadillas and excessively lime-infused water. And the world needs to know that I’ve finally overcome my obsession with running a bake sale every week. Trust me, it has freed up so much time for both me and my parents!
The Uninformed Family
On the other hand, my college friends and a few individuals I consider family only learned about my life’s exciting chapters after the fact. They missed out on my dedication to culinary school and my weekly bake sale endeavors. I must admit, bedazzled jeans were also a regrettable fashion choice during those years. Thankfully, most of my orthodontic issues were resolved, but they never saw the days when I sported buck teeth and vampire fangs. Oh, and let’s not forget that peculiar phase of my life where I completely disregarded social norms and cues, aspiring to be a wood elf.
A Master’s Program Mystery
Now, as if life wasn’t already full of surprises, I find myself in a rather funny situation with my master’s program. We’ve barely scratched the surface, and yet we’re bombarded with presentations about what to do after we complete our master’s degree. Apparently, planning for the future should have started weeks ago, even before the official start of classes. Talk about jumping the gun!
Yes, you heard that right. I’m expected to have a clear vision of my post-master’s life when I haven’t even commenced my studies. Can you believe it? It’s utter madness!
Coping Mechanisms Revealed
During times of stress, I possess three habits that unintentionally impact those around me. Brace yourself, my dear readers, because when I’m stressed, you’re in for a wild ride.
- Disney Melodies: I indulge in listening to exclusively Disney music. From the catchy tunes of Hannah Montana to the enchanting melodies of The Lion King, prepare yourself for Disney memes galore. If you happen to know Luba, please inform her that she needs to update my playlist again to lift me out of this funk.
Comedy Relief: I find solace in watching stand-up comedy while I cook. Laughter becomes my loyal companion, and I often catch myself engaging in hilarious conversations with myself. This amplifies my belief that I possess an uncanny sense of humor. As a result, you’ll have to bear with blog posts filled to the brim with my questionable jokes.
Harry Potter Magic: When I walk to class, my go-to companion is an audiobook of Harry Potter. As the captivating story unfolds in my ears, everyone around me becomes a muggle, and every corner of the campus transforms into Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, or even Privet Drive.
By the time you reach the end of this article, you may wish you were confronted by dementors instead.
Last night, as luck would have it, at the stroke of six, a bell rang from a building whose name I have yet to discover, and it chimed in with the iconic theme song of Harry Potter. It was nothing short of magical. For a moment, all my previous worries and overwhelming thoughts dissipated. Nothing else mattered in that instant. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of wonder as the melody of Hedwig’s Theme filled the air for a solid 45 seconds.
And just when the euphoria was at its peak, the melody transitioned into an inferior song that didn’t resonate with me. Nevertheless, it was a delightful surprise.
Explorations and Revelations
Instead of delving into the abyss of post-master’s planning, I opted to explore Cornell’s Botanical Gardens. During my explorations, I stumbled upon the Climate Change Garden, an incredible testament to the impact of our changing environment. But that’s a story for another time. Meanwhile, I discovered the simple joy of reading upside down on my porch, nestled amidst a cluster of trees. It was a tranquil and serene experience.
The vegetable gardens, juxtaposed against the concept of the Climate Change Garden, painted a vivid picture of the environmental transformations we face.
Architecture and nature harmoniously blended together, creating a fascinating visual spectacle.
And of course, I couldn’t resist taking a seat in the midst of this natural beauty.
Sitting on my porch, sipping a cup of tea, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment.
Life at math camp may be chaotic, but amidst it all, there is a certain beauty that surrounds me. It’s truly “gorge”-ous!
